Around this time every year for the last three years, Roselle Park 24/7 has asked its supporters to donate funds to the annual Roselle Park High School Gay-Straight Alliance sponsored student event. This year we are not.
Why? When the High School Students wanted to create a 1970s themed disco party (yes…THE STUDENTS wanted a 1970s disco) we thought adding a indoor roller rink with music, games and food would make a great memorable event. But we thought, how in the world would be raise enough money for an indoor roller rink. Through the generosity of RPHS Alumnus Michael Ausiello (author of “Spoiler Alert, The Hero Dies” and creator www.tvline.com), an expected 100 students will have that memorial occasion. And with the additional financial support of the Roselle Park PBA, Roselle Park Teachers Association and a number of food establishments, everything is ready to roll… So thank you for your past financial support and look for Roselle Park 24/7’s bigger and better events planned in the future. |

The holiday POP-UP SHOP mART will be showcasing Roselle Park student made arts and craft gifts in a real-life business setting on Sunday December 10th. Artwork, ornaments, crafts and on-site student demonstrations will will give customers an interactive experience rather than a traditional shop and buy. These students will impress you with their talents.
The idea of this pop up store for students came about from a parent who wanted to expose her daughters love for creating art to larger audience while giving her an opportunity to learn more about the business of selling her work.
If successful, we hope to have more student Pop Up Shops in other business locations in the future. If your child would like to express their artistic, crafty and entrepreneurial talents let us know. Future event possibilities may also include student selling services too.
Thanks for supporting a GREAT new opportunity for our students and small businesses alike!!

"Welcome Home Michael" Book Tour in Conversation with Joe DeIorio
Monday November 20th 6pm - Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library

404 Chestnut Street, Roselle Park New Jersey
American television industry journalist and actor, Michael Ausiello returns to his hometown of Roselle Park to discuss his memoir: Spoiler Alert: A Hero Dies The author, a former Roselle Park resident and Roselle Park High School Graduate, is receiving rave reviews on his book - something Roselle Park is positively proud of!
Michael will be interviewed Joe DeIorio, former Roselle Park Mayor for a candid and sometimes campy discussion of the book, talk about growing up in Roselle Park in the 1980s and 1990s and will interact with audience members.

In this evocative and gorgeously wrought memoir reminiscent of Rob Sheffield’s Love Is a Mixtape and George Hodgman’s Bettyville, Michael Ausiello—a respected TV columnist and founder and editor-in-chief of TVLine.com--remembers his late husband, and the lessons, love, and laughter that they shared throughout their fourteen years together.
For the past decade, TV fans of all stripes have counted upon Michael Ausiello’s insider knowledge to get the scoop on their favorite shows and stars. From his time at Soaps in Depth to his influential stints at TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly to his current role as founder and editor-in-chief of the wildly popular website TVLine.com, Michael has established himself as the go-to expert when it comes to our most popular form of entertainment.
What many of his fans don’t know, however, is that while his professional life was in full swing, Michael had to endure the greatest of personal tragedies: his husband, Kit Cowan, was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of neuroendocrine cancer. Over the course of eleven months, Kit and Michael did their best to combat the deadly disease, but Kit succumbed to his illness in February 2015.
Michael Ausiello began his publishing career at Soaps In Depth magazine in 1997, before moving on to TVGuide.com in 2000. It was there that he launched his signature Ask Ausiello column and established himself as a major player in the world of TV journalism. In 2008, he jumped to Entertainment Weekly where he penned a weekly column in the magazine as well as an award-winning blog on EW.com (both titled The Ausiello Files). Three years later, he joined Jay Penske’s expanding media empire as founder and editor-in-chief of TVLine.com.
In this heartbreaking and darkly hilarious memoir, Michael tells the story of his harrowing and challenging last year with Kit while revisiting the thirteen years that preceded it, and how the undeniably powerful bond between him and Kit carried them through all manner of difficulty—always with laughter front and center in their relationship. Instead of a tale of sadness and loss, Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies is an unforgettable, inspiring, and beautiful testament to the resilience and strength of true love.

Roselle Park Volunteers on their way to Texas - Jared Pietz and Bobby Brennan
"Letter from Jared Pietz and Bobby Brennan"
We are all aware of the devastation and damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. When I first learned about it, I wanted to provide assistance, especially since a dear friend of mine, Angelo Sanchez and his family live in Houston. Bobby Brennan and I are both volunteer firemen for the Borough of Roselle Park and we are working towards going to Texas and help the people that have lost everything.
My friend and I have known each other for 12 years. He is like a brother to me. Bobby and I plan on taking off from work to go to meet him on September 24th to the 29th to offer our emergency service skills for him and the Harris County area, where he resides. This young man is known as “Coach Champ” and helps a lot of the youth who are now without anything except for the clothes on their back. There are many things that we will be able to do and nothing is too small. With the training Roselle Park has provided and the knowledge we already have, we believe we can offer can be a great help to Angelo and his community. While there, we will be helping at the shelter with food and clothes and delivering items to families who need help at his church. We also understand that it will take years for his community to fully recover, and while there, we will meet local residents and other town officials to build a relationship that we can share with you and the residents of Roselle Park. Our hope is to return at a later time or support them in other ways needed for their community to recover. Our budget for this trip: Airplane Tickets: $250/ person round trip $500 Rent a car $395 or Van $344 or Pick Up $510 $510 Gas: $150 Food for two people $300 Amount needed to raise Total $1,460 We are asking for any financial assistance and guidance to help us reach our goal. We will need to raise these funds as soon as possible to book the flight and confirm transportation. Thank you so much for your help. |
